Boilermaker

For those not from this area or who haven't heard us talk about the Boilermaker... here are some pictures to illustrate what it is.

The Boilermaker is the nation's largest 15K road race. This year there were 12,000 runners, I believe. You can check out http://www.uticaboilermaker.com/ for more information and details. While I am certainly not a runner, Boilermaker weekend is still fun. On Saturday, the day before the Big race, they have an 8K walk. This year, Greg, Uncle Gordie, Abi, and I walked it. Anybody want to come join us next year?

Our spectators... :)

Bev and I (along with many others) handing out water & ice to the runners... We are at mile number 6 or so.

Jim heading to Abi for a much-deserved drink of water.

Look at the cups on the ground... an indication of how much water/ice handed out. (& this is only one water station)

It was a fun weekend, all in all. If anyone is interested in walking or running the race next year, we'd be happy to provide a place to sleep, transportation, and moral support! :) Oh, and for those that like beer, the runners get free Saranac beer after the race. Personally, I can't imagine running more than 9 miles and find that beer would taste good, but what do I know? I certainly haven't run 9 miles before!

Enjoy the week!

Vacation Pictures

Hi again,

Now that we are back from North Dakota and I have a little bit more energy. (Please make sure that you see the "little" in that statement, b/c that's about what I've got!) :) We had a great time getting to spend lots of time with family and some with friends. I wish that somehow we could spend more time with everyone... Any ideas? I know! Anybody have vacation plans they need to fill? We have a guest room that's available. Hint, hint.

Kailen, Molly, and Abi...

Abi and Ryne...

Abi, Kailen, and Ryne (notice the older two are in clothes rather than swimming suits... may as well get completely soaked when having a water fight, right?)

Kailen and Grandpa... (even Grandpa got in on part of the water fight... the receiving part!)

Grandma and Abi...

We saw lots of baseball games (I believe we saw 8 different games/practices in all, not including the MLB games that were on tv). We also got to do some 'golfing'.

Norwegian golf (aka Ladder golf)... The concept is simple. Score points by throwing a rope with a golf ball on either end to the ladder across the way. The number of points is determined by the rung of the ladder it lands on. The concept is simple, but the execution isn't as much! :)

Frisbee golf... Justin and Michelle, is Reagan ready?

And a night at Lake Ida with Chad, Melissa, Baby Zach, Sheila (Chad's mom), and Dave (Chad's stepdad)... Thanks again Dave & Sheila!
an early morning view of Lake Ida from the house.

Okay, there is our week in pictures... at least part of it. We really had a great time! Thanks everybody. And for all of those we didn't get to see this time, we're sorry... maybe next time.

Baby Birdies

Thought some might find a picture of our baby birdies kind of interesting... This was taken before we left on vacation. Greg tells me that these birds can now fly.
