Here are a few pictures from our last photo session at JC Penney... If you'd like to download any of these pictures, please email me and I'll send you the link. The pictures are copyrighted of course so cannot be printed, but they are downloadable.

Milestone!

Hello...

I know you are still waiting for pictures... I promise they will come. I just wanted to share with everyone the exciting news in our house...

Mikayla has slept thru the night 2 nights in a row in our house! :) I say "in our house" because she did sleep thru the night 2 of the 3 camping nights last weekend also. We attributed that to the fresh air and busy days... but she has slept nearly 12 hours each of the past two nights! The first night, we actually woke her up in the morning... definitely a strange thing for us. :)

As for current stats:
Mikayla weighs 13 pounds and measured in at 26 inches long just a couple of weeks ago....

Abi weighs 35.8 pounds... and not sure on her height. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Have a great day everyone!

Time to catch-up...

Hello all,

It seems each new post I write starts out the same way.. "Time to catch-up" or "This is long overdue" Sorry for that. I often think about updating the blog, but one thing turns to another and well, soon it has been months...

I feel as though I have lots to write about. I suppose part of that is due to having 2 little girls to talk about. :)

Here is a rundown of what has been going on in our lives:

1) A visit to Moline, Illinois because my Grandma Dolleslager passed away at the end of May. I wish we could have gone to Illinois under better circumstances, but on the positive side of things... My parents and John & Annette were able to meet Mikayla and see Abi. Also I was able to see my family from Colorado that I haven't seen in 6 years. I had decided that I would make the drive to Illinois with the girls shortly after my brother called to say that Grandma "wasn't doing well". Needless to say, at that point, my logical and mental skills weren't highly tuned. I had decided to make the drive, but hadn't really thought of how difficult a 16+ hour drive would be with a 3 year old and 5 week old. I just knew I had to go and leaving them here wasn't an option. Unfortunately, Greg was unable to come with because of teaching obligations since it was nearing the end of the school year. Anyway, it the midst of packing and trying to get everything together, my mother-in-law called to OFFER to come with us! I was stunned by the offer... not because it is out of character for her, but because it was so unexpected. She was such a HUGE help though... She took care of the girls so that I could grieve rather than being focused so much on the girls' needs. It isn't many that can say their mother-in-law volunteered to go nearly 900 miles by car driving overnight with a 3 year old and a 5 week-old to a funeral.

2) A bridal shower and bachelorette party for my sister-in-law the following weekend. Stacy and Jimmy (see link if interested) are getting married in a few weeks. The weekend was alot of fun. I got to meet all of the other bridesmaid's and spend some time with them as well. The bachelorette party was a wine tour to the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. The scenery was beautiful and going to the different wineries was fun. I even found a couple of wines that I like! :) ... The tricky part is remembering which I liked. :)

3) The following weekend (Father's Day weekend), the four of us set out on another journey. This time our travels took us all the way to North Dakota. We decided to drive this time in part because we had the time to do so and because the airline prices were out of this world. Even with the price of gas as high as it is, it was cheaper for us to drive than to fly. For those that are curious, the highest gas prices we saw were in Indiana. The gas at two of the travel plazas on the Eastern part was $4.39. The lowest price of gas during our trip was in Fargo at a steal of a price $3.79! I cannot even believe that I said $3.79 is a steal! :) I still remember calling my mom from a gas station in Fargo during my Valley City days being excited that I got gas for less than a dollar... granted I have been out of school for a little while, but not THAT long! Anybody have some gas price memories?

We had a great time in North Dakota. We were able to spend time with Chad, Melissa, and Zach as well as my family. It was a more relaxing time because we weren't constantly running... it was more of a trot the whole time. :) Anyway, I have some really great pictures but since I am using the PC rather than the laptop to type this, they'll have to wait until next posting. I promise it won't be as long of a wait. :)

4) Back to New York meant back to reality for me. After 11 weeks off of work, I had to return to the 'real' world. I have to say that I would rather be at home with Abi and Mikayla, but going back wasn't as bad as I expected. I have some patients that are really glad to see me back and it's nice to be missed. :) I was worried that I'd forget how to do something or who people were, but it's coming back to me farely quickly...

5) Next weekend is the Holmes' family reunion at FairHaven Beach State Park... an annual event which should be fun. I'm still working on switching a shift so that I don't have to drive back here for work on Friday... but even if I do, it's not the end of the world. :)

I'm sure there is a ton more to share, but at the moment both Abi and Mikayla are asleep... Greg is camping with the Boy Scouts... so I think I am going to play a computer game and then to bed. (assuming Mikayla is still asleep. :) )

Take care!
