Tubes

Again, time has passed so quickly it seems...

We have been really busy in our house since the new year began... We were able to bring in 2010 with my family in ND. Greg and I spent the evening with John, Annette, and some of their friends and it was a fun time of playing games and laughing. My mom and dad were at their house with the girls.

After returning to NY, Greg got back into full swing at school and has even started taking a grad course on special education. The hope is that these classes will help him obtain special education certification which will then open some more doors. He is happy in his current position, but I think he'd enjoy having a 'real' classroom again as well. :)

As for the girls, we have been battling ear infection after ear infection and with Abi, in particular, some hearing loss. They both had hearing tests and Abi definitely failed with flying colors! She had so much fluid built up, that it was impossible for her to hear anything properly. After the follow-up apointment, it was decided that both girls would get tubes placed. It was an easy procedure and certainly helped having them do it together. I wish I would have brought the camera! The girls looked absolutely adorable in their yellow, flannel, hospital gowns being wheeled from the pediatric area to the operating room.... which was thru a 'regular' wing of the hospital with lots of spectators to see them. Abi and Mikayla shared a bed down to the OR area and Abi had her arm around Mikayla in a protective way. It was So precious and heart-warming. Mikayla went into the procedure first, sitting on her bed, sitting up as if it was no big deal... no tears for her! I can't say the same for me... I had a couple well in my eyes. :) Then it was Abi's turn and she did the same.

One of the first comments Abi made after the surgery was, "Mommy. My ears feel funny. They feel louder." then quickly followed by a comment to her sister... "Mikayla. Stop yelling!" YES! They have worked. :)

We can now whisper to Abi and she can hear us... It is great. :) The only issue we have had with the tubes is that both girls do NOT like the ear drops. They cry and whimper and try to get out of them everytime... and that is unusual for them when it comes to medicine. Thankfully, only 2 more days of ear drops left.

I have been extremely busy at work lately... our volume of Rx's just seems to keep climbing. It is incredible to me as we are just one pharmacy in a small town. I cannot imagine other pharmacies in larger cities... No thank you. :) I have been working my one Friday a month in Little Falls instead of Waterville which is a complete change of pace. The Little Falls store is a lower volume store and almost like having a vacation and getting paid for it. . . It's a nice change of pace, no doubt.

I think that sums up the changes as of late...

I hope everyone is well.
